Sakhalin 1 suspends gas pumping after emergency

MOSCOW, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- Project Sakhalin-1 suspended gas supplies via the trunk pipeline due to an emergency on Friday, officials of the Energy Ministry and RusHydro told PRIME.

"Gas pumping from project Sakhalin 1 from the Chaivo deposit of Exxon Neftegaz Limited to the trunk pipeline Okha–Komsomolsk-on-Amur was suspended due to an emergency on December 17 at 07:05 a.m.," the Energy Ministry official said.

The official at RusHydro said that there is no risk of electric and thermal power supply disruptions.

Sakhalin-1 develops the Chaivo, Odoptu and Arkutun-Dagi fields on the Sakhalin Island’s shelf with total estimated resources standing at 307 million tonnes of oil and 485 billion cubic meters of gas. U.S. ExxonMobil and Japan’s Sodeco own 30% in the project each, while Russian oil major Rosneft and India’ ONGC own 20% each.
